Watch here the second public performance by the KammerMusikKöln of an arrangement they commissioned from Simone Fontanelli of Wagner’s song «Der Engel» from the Wesendonck Lieder collection, sung by soprano Katrin Zukowski.
It is taken from an album recorded on the occasion of the “10+1” anniversary concert of the KammerMusikKöln ensemble, which stood entirely under the motto of Richard Wagner, reflecting the desire to put on several of his works in arrangements for chamber music ensemble.
Thus, with this Wagner Project, the ensemble presents several rarities along with a world première – Wagner’s extremely rarely performed French Songs, also in an arrangement commissioned by the KammerMusikKöln from Simone Fontanelli, and sung also by soprano Katrin Zukowski. The album also introduces Engelbert Humperdinck’s almost entirely unknown arrangement of the prelude to Tristan und Isolde and Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll, in the composer’s own chamber music arrangement, a particularly gratifying piece for small ensemble.
