Deutsche Grammophon continues the genre-defying project Fragments, an invitation from Deutsche Grammophon for thirteen leading electronic artists to respond to a single composer. With one single released each month, Fragments gradually builds over the course of a year.
FRAGMENTS – the album project celebrating music past and present by inviting some of today’s most innovative artists – goes into the second season by reworking the compositions of composer Lili Boulanger featuring @joplyn with The Sirens.
“As someone who has always had a deep appreciation for 20th-century (Impressionist) classical music and feels strongly about any woman finding their path through this male-dominated space, this project hooked me instantly. I was inspired to challenge myself and record this very complex and intricate 6-voice choir
arrangement, then weave it into a 21st-century melodic house and techno fabric. This opened up sonic and harmonic worlds I’ve never experimented with before. This rework represents duality to me. Living room and club. Classical and electronic music. Old and young. Everything in between. & I’m so proud and happy with how it turned out.” – Joplyn
